SUMMARY
Long distance marriage although has been typified as a middle-class phenomenon, technically all couples of all ages, lengths of marriage, parental status, education, income and careers choose this lifestyle. The study investigated the concept of long distance marriage and its impact on family using career couples in Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha and Egor as a case study. The study started in chapter one with introduction where we have the background of the study, statement of the problem, research questions, objectives of the study, statement of the problem, research questions, objectives of the study and at the end of chapter one, is the significance of the study. Consequently, in chapter two, relevant literatures were reviewed in terms of evolution and trends of long distance marriage, conceptualizing long distance marriages, in terms of marital separation, demographic characters, reasons for choosing long distance marriage, positive and negative impacts of long distance marriages, managing the distance, problems of long distance marriages and perception of societal opinion of long distance marriage.
