ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of teleworking on employee performance during the Covid-19 pandemic in sub-tropical regions: insight from deposit money banks in Edo State, Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to determine the extent of the effects of the new normal on employee performance; validate the effects of the pandemic on employee performance, and measure the effects of working from home on deposit money banks performance.
The study made use of the cross sectional research design, and questionnaire which was made up of well-framed series of questions relating to the research topic was used for data collection. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and linear regression analysis. The linear regression (ANOVA) analysis was used to test the close relationship between the variables and also tested the hypotheses of the study. The analysis was conducted using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS 22) software. Findings from the study revealed that during the Covid-19 pandemic, working from home was very challenging to most employees in Deposit Money Bank; most employees in Deposit Money Banks felt connected with their company while working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic despite the absence from the work environment; majority of the employees in Deposit Money Banks or in the financial sector, were still very productive despite working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic; most employees in the financial sector would like to work from home, if they are given the opportunity, and that there was good communication between workers and management during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
