ABSTRACT
The study "An assessment of children's educational television programme in English language” is a quantitative research that seeks to access, describe and explain children's educational programme on NTA Benin. The study was anchored on the Social Learning Theory of the mass media as propounded by Bandura. The study adopted survey research design to generate data from the sampled population. To this end, students of Asoro Grammar school, Benin City were sampled. It was gathered that children's educational programmes in English language as aired on NTA Benin are very popular among students, and positively impact greatly on the students in terms of knowledge enhancement. As a result of this benefit, the study recommends that Government through the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission and other relevant agencies should mandate television stations operating in Nigeria to dedicate significant portion of broadcast time to English language children's educational program.
