ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to study the assessing the impact of technology integration on administrative efficiency in educational leadership within public secondary schools in Edo State, four (4) research questions were raised to guide the study. Despite the increasing adoption of technology in educational institutions, there seems to remain a significant gap in understanding its impact on administrative efficiency, particularly in regions like Edo State. The study examined the impact of technology integration on administrative efficiency in educational leadership in Edo State, specifically.
A descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The total sample size for the study was 100% of the population which was (100) respondents, selected through simple random sampling technique from 4 schools. The instrument for this study was sixteen (20) items structured questionnaire which was designed by the researcher and to be administered to the respondents. To determine the reliability of the instrument, the test-retest procedure was adopted. Thereafter, their responses on the two occasions was collated and correlated to determine its correlation coefficient using Pearson product movement correlation statistics the instruments yielded a coefficient value of 0.72 which shows that the instrument was reliable.
Based on the findings, Tools like Google Workspace and social media platforms such as WhatsApp are widely used by educational leaders, while platforms like Zoom and EdTech tools, such as Kahoot, are underutilized. Technology integration has significantly enhanced administrative efficiency, particularly in automating tasks such as scheduling, data management, and report generation. Key challenges include inadequate infrastructure, insufficient professional development, and the lack of technical support staff. High technology costs are perceived as a less significant barrier. Technology improves decision-making through real-time data access, efficient data analysis, and stakeholder engagement, though there are gaps. It was recommended that; Governments and educational bodies should invest in reliable internet access, electricity, and other infrastructure to facilitate seamless technology integration in schools. Educational leaders and staff should undergo regular training programs to enhance their proficiency with advanced technological tools. Schools should employ or collaborate with technical experts to provide troubleshooting assistance and maintain technology systems. Partnerships with technology providers should be explored to secure affordable and sustainable access to underutilized tools like Zoom and cloud systems.
