ABSTRACT

Theatre practice has evolved from its simple beginnings to the complex, technologically and scientifically advanced art that it is today. The theatre institution in Nigeria, however, is far from utilizing the technology present in theaters around the world in the twenty-first century. Although technology in the developed world is developing very quickly, there is a growing divide between the west and the rest of Nigeria in terms of how the theater is produced using the technology available.

Although it now appears that Nigeria produces theater in a similar manner to the rest of the western world, Nigerian theaters lack the sophistication of the western technology-driven theater. Technology is regarded as a fantastic tool for packaging theatrical works, but it is not the only tool that can address Nigeria's theatre development issues.
