ABSTRACT

Theatre practice has evolved from its simple beginnings to the complex, technologically and scientifically advanced art that it is today. The theatre institution in Nigeria, however, is far from utilizing the technology present in theaters around the world in the twenty-first century. The study “Technological advancement in Nigeria theatre; Inter-mediality in view” is inevitably set out to explore how Inter mediality (new media) could be deployed as a veritable tool for theatrical performance development and advancement.  Theatre practice having been done in the usual traditional way has resulted to the shifted attention of most theatre audience to film, television media. In this study, I made did context analysis of the play and Inter-mediality using narrative technique with observation participant as my primary source data collection. At the end of it all, it is recommended that Theatre Art department should consider implementing new technologies in the theatre thereby harnessing theatrical productions on stage of which it will also aid a rapid and broad learning process for the students theoretically and practically.
