Abstract
This study examines the role of technical education skills as a catalyst for entrepreneurship promotion in Edo State, Nigeria. The study specifically investigates how resourcefulness, creativity, leadership skills, risk-taking ability, and profitability contribute to entrepreneurial development. A total of 100 lecturers from Information Technology, Home Economics, Business Education, and Agricultural courses in technical education institutions were selected as the sample population. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design, utilizing a structured questionnaire as the primary instrument for data collection. The collected data were analyzed using frequency counts, simple percentages, mean, and standard deviation to determine the extent to which these technical education skills influence entrepreneurship. The findings reveal that all five identified skills—resourcefulness, creativity, leadership, risk-taking, and profitability—promote entrepreneurship in Edo State to a high extent. Based on these findings, the study recommends that technical education curricula be restructured to place greater emphasis on experiential learning, financial literacy, and practical skill development. Additionally, integrating leadership training, innovation-driven coursework, and real-world entrepreneurial experiences within technical education programs can further enhance the entrepreneurial competencies of students, ultimately fostering economic growth and self-reliance in Edo State.Top of Form
