ABSTRACT
This study explored the principals’ transformational leadership style and effective Administration of public secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State Nigeria. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. Research question one and two were answered while question three to five were hypothesized and tested at 0.05 level of signifance. The descriptive survey design was employed in this study. The sample size was made up of (154) respondents selected from (6) public secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area in Edo State. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire which was distributed to participants the instrument was retrieved and analysed using mean and standard deviation. The hypothesis were tested using Pearson product moment correlation and Fisher’s Z-test statistics. The finding of this study revealed that transformational leadership style is the predominant leadership style among principals in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Based on the findings it was recommended among others that the state ministry of education should organize regular training in leadership style used by principals that would enhance effective management of secondary schools.
