ABSTRACT

The teaching attitude of teachers refers to their overall disposition, beliefs, and emotional approach towards the act of teaching and interacting with students. This attitude can significantly influence their teaching methods, classroom environment, and, consequently, student outcomes.

This study explores the attitudes of computer science teachers in public senior secondary schools in Ovia-Northeast, Edo State, and their potential impact on students' academic performance and career aspirations in the field of computer science. A survey-based descriptive research design was employed, encompassing teachers and students from selected public schools in Ovia North-East local government area, Edo State.

Most computer science teachers exhibited a positive attitude towards teaching. However, the study found that this positive attitude had a minimal influence on students' academic performance in computer science. Similarly, there was no significant relationship between teachers' attitudes and students' career aspirations in computer science. While the majority of computer science teachers in the region maintain a positive teaching attitude, this study suggests that other factors may exert a more substantial influence on students' academic performance and career aspirations in computer science. These findings underscore the complexity of factors that shape educational outcomes and career choices in this field.
