ABSTRACT
This study determines teachers quality and Job Performance in Public Senior Secondary School in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. To guide this study, six research questions were raised and answered. The study adapted a descriptive and expo-facto survey research design.
The population of the study was five hundred teachers in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government of Edo State. The sample size was two hundred and fifty teachers who were purposively selected to respond to the questionnaire. Two research instruments titled Teachers Quality and Job Performance Questionnaire (TQJPQ) were used to elicit information. The questionnaire was divided into two sections A and B. Section A dealt with bio-data while Section B was used to collect information on teachers quality variables such as teachers’ level of educational professional qualification, teaching experience and teachers socioeconomic status. The instruments were validated by the researcher’s supervisor and other two experts in the department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education and University of Benin, Benin-city. The data collated were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages and frequency.
The findings revealed that teachers educational qualification, their socioeconomic status & experience enhance their job performance. The study therefore recommended that teachers should be encouraged to go for further studies with adequate incentives and remuneration be provided for them to raise their socioeconomic status in the society.
