ABSTRACT

Nano particles are usually small particles whose particle diameter ranges from 1 100nm. Nano silica have unique properties such as biocompatibility, stability, high surface area and surface reactivity. Nano silica plays an efficient role in making fingerprint powder more efficient in forensic science, it helps enhance the effectiveness of the powder by improving its adherence to the latent finger prints on surfaces. Their small particle sizes allows it to penetrate into the tiny ridges and crevices of the fingerprint, making it easier to visualize and lift. The utilization of date palm seeds as biomass to synthesis green Nano silica offers a cost effective method and nontoxic nature as the seeds are agricultural waste which do not have any economic importance. In this study, the date seed mediated Nano silica was used to produce two colored finger print powder (red and blue). The finger print properties of this synthesized finger print powder was compared with the commercial finger print powder. The result of this comparison shows that the synthesized finger print powder gave finger print properties that is similar with those of the commercial. The red finger print powder shows finger print properties that is superior in terms of the visibility of the finger print when compared to the blue colored finger print powder.
