ABSTRACT
This study examines the relationship between awareness of and perceived value of the adoption of sustainable financial reporting practices among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. A study of 200 SMEs in Edo State, Nigeria, provided that the awareness of sustainable financial reporting practices and its adoption were closely linked. These results show how important awareness and the importance are for getting SMEs in Nigeria to use sustainable financial reporting practices. The study has important benefits for policy and practice, showing that it is important to encourage sustainable financial reporting in the SME sector. SMEs can make their operations more sustainable and successful in the long run by acquiring knowledge about the importance of sustainability reporting. This is very important in Nigeria, where SMEs are a big part of the economy and have a big impact on the environment and the rest of society.
