Abstract
The study reports on a Fungal survey conducted in the University of Benin, Hall 6 environ in Edo State Benin City, from December 2023 - February 2024. The aim was to investigate the diversity and composition of fungal communities in this ecosystem. Sampling methods employed included (opportunistic collection). Fungi were identified using morphological analysis. A total number of 14 taxa were identified belonging to 2 different phyla (Ascomycota and Basidiomycota). The dominant fungal group was the Ascomycota with 10 name. This survey provides a valuable baseline data on the fungal biodiversity of Hall 6 in the University of Benin, and contributes to our understanding of the ecological roles that fungi play in this ecosystem.
