ABSTRACT

Cow dung is the undigested waste product of previously consumed food product excreted by cattle which are of the bovine animal species and they consist of lignin, celluloses and hemicelluloses. Cow dung emit methane which trap heat up to 30 times more than carbon dioxide. This work is about the characterization of cow dung pyrolysed at 400℃. The parameters studied were electrical conductivity, bulk density, surface acidity and Ph. After characterization, the electrical conductivity was found to be 9.14s/m, the bulk density was 0.396gcm-3 which was quite low, the Ph was 9.05 which was slightly high and the total surface acidity was 4.050mmol/g. The latonic group possessed the highest percentage(70%)of the total surface acidic functional groups.
