ABSTRACT
Cow dung is the undigested residue of plant matter which has passed through the animal's gut. The resultant faecal matter is rich in minerals.
This research work was done to examine the properties of cow dung biochar carbonized at 250°C. The properties evaluated includes, EC, pH, Bulk density, Ash content, Mineral content, and surface area. The biochar was found to have an EC of 12.62 ±0.20µs/cm and pH of 8.02 ± 0.20 respectively,an ash content of 23.0 ±0.20%. Bulk density of 0.403 Also, the biochar contained a high concentration of K(11501.95mg/kg), Ca(670mg/kg), and Na(446.95mg/kg) respectively but low concentration of Mg(59.0mg/kg). The value for surface area of the cow dung biochar was found to be low at about 5.17m2/g.
