ABSTRACT
The аіm of this project іѕ tо determine thе flexural strength of beams using tyre fibers. The ideaology behind the study is to assess the durability and workability of waste tyre fibers as against the generally used steel rods in construction. The work seeks to investigate if tyre fibers can be a much more usable substitute for rods and how it affects the strength of beams. The project was achieved following some procedures accordingly, I started with the aquisition of materials needed for the project, then i carried out test an ultimate strenght test (tensile strength) on the tyre fibers to be used for the research and i measured the total weight of the available tyre fibers. Then i prepared concrete with fine aggregate and did slump test. After that I carried out casting of concrete beams, then I carried out mixing, casting, curing and carrying out flexural test for concrete beams.
