A survey was carried out on the parasitic infection of the prawn, Palaemon elegans from the late months of 2021 (October to December) and in January to February of the year 2022. A total of 109 prawns were collected and examined from Ovia River. 34 (31.2%) were found infected with parasites. The study was carried with preference to location and size of prawns. Trematodes parasites including metacercariae and excysted metacercariae were isolated from the prawns. Infection rate was recorded as 67.9%, the highest prevalence of infection with excysted metacercariae was recorded in the month of February. The mean intensity of infection increased with the sizes of prawns. Recent study shows that metacercariae were round and oval in shape with yellow or golden brown colour, excysted metacercariae characterized by a notable posterior sucker which is an indication that the trematode parasite under investigation is a Michrophallus sp.
