ABSTRACT
Stage Management encompass a variety of activities including overseeing of the rehearsal process, it requires a general understanding of all aspects of production and offers organization support to ensure the process runs smoothly. This research examined student perception on the roles and challenges of stage management in a Theatrical production. Over time there have been conflicting opinion regarding what the roles and challenges in stage management is to the extent that they are no clear cut ideas and this have form the basis upon which the way and manner students stage managers have carried on in the past, so it to these that this study seeks to find out the way theatre art student perceive the role and as well as the challenges experience by these people. The study adopted the descriptive survey design in which the primary source is interview technique in which a sample of theatre arts student utilizing those who anticipate the roles of a stage manager, the secondary data which was through a review of literature on the subject. An interview guide was utilize in the in depth interview of the people who have played the roles in the past. I utilize the technique known as Thematic Content Analysis of Data, information was recorded which later transcribed to data, from the content analysis of the interview i discovered that the Uniben Theatre is lacking in terms of infrastructure and Student perceive that the awareness of stage management can be enhance in the Uniben Theatre through so many ways such as orientations and seminars
