ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine Students’ perception on national insecurity and it's implication on quality tertiary education (a case study of the University of Benin). To achieve this objective, four research questions and one research hypothesis were formulated to guide this study. The data collected were analyzed using simple percentages and tables to analyze research questions and Chi-square statistical tool was used for testing of research hypothesis. A structured questionnaire was used as the major instrument for data collection from students in University of Benin. After the careful analysis of the data, the following findings were revealed that insecurity have a significant impact on academic performances of students. The study concluded with some recommendations that the students are highly concerned about the state of national insecurity and how it impacts their academic pursuits. The study further revealed that the prevailing insecurity in the country has significant implications for the quality of tertiary education at the University of Benin, including low academic performance, limited access to learning resources, and reduced student engagement.
