ABSTRACT

This research study investigated students perception on cybercrime and it’s implications on educational development: a case study in University of Benin, Benin City. When this study was carried, the researcher brought about five research questions that was used as a guide for this study. The respondents in this study were 200 students of the University of Benin, and the the survey research technique was used as the research method for this study. Table and percentage were used to collect and present data for this research study. The study was to investigate the effect of cybercrime on the students of University of Benin and in order to solve this issue, different techniques such as population of the study and sample and sampling techniques were used. The questionnaire was used in collecting data for the study and it was divided into two parts, Section A which was designed to obtain personal information from the respondents, and Section B which comprised of items on the topic under investigation. The research instrument was reviewed and validated by the project supervisor and other experts in the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Benin, Benin City. The findings showed the level to which cybercrime can affect students in the university community and different strategies were brought up as recommendations that will limit the negative effect of cybercrime on the university students.
