ABSTRACT
This study was to assess student’s perception of the influence of Information Communication Technology on students study habit in University of Benin. 280 university of Benin students participated in the study as the sample. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire, which was developed and administered to students. The data from their responses were analyzed with the use of Simple Percentage. The results revealed that the benefits of ICT in the study habits of students include the enhancement of study habit, the use of information technology has made difficult subjects and lessons interesting, helps to have a broader perspective of a topic or lesson, helps for better concentration and longer study time and by the use of ICT, students are more engaged in the class and outside the class in terms of assignment. It was also revealed that ICT has benefited the study habits of the students, ICT makes learning fun and more engaging. Information technology allows students to get more resources and better knowledge outside the classroom, ICT usage enhance achievement of students’ academic goals, Computer usage has significant influence on students’ study habits (In term of time management, note taking and homework completion), Internet usage have significant influence on students’ study habits (in terms of time management, note taking and homework completion) and the concentration level of students has increased due to the use of information technology. It is therefore recommended that management of the university should make or include computer packages or training as a compulsory subject in their schools as they will also help students to get use to ICT, equipment/facilities are provided to schools and individuals at an affordable or cheaper rate, as this will raise the consciousness and reawaken people on ICT usage, there should be adequate supply of power (electricity) and measures should be made to assure good internet network services by netkwork service providers, the Government should provide ICT gadgets in tertiary institutions and within the school, a working and well equipped ICT hub should be constructed for students access.
