ABSTRACT
This study examine the relationship among student perception of child abuse on learning in some selected public secondary schools in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. It investigate the degree of relationship between student perception of child abuse in learning process. It also determine the degree of relationship between students perception on child abuse on learning and age, school type, level and also gender in selected public secondary school in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
This study was conducted using a correlation survey. The population of the study has an estimated population of 97 of students of the selected public secondary schools in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State were used with an sample size of 384 students as respondents. The data was analyzed using Pearson moment product correlation and findings revealed that there is strong degree of relationship among student perception of child abuse on learning. The result showed that child abuse on student perception on learning negatively affects their learning and performance in academics. Possible remedies to curb child abuse in secondary school includes both home and school environment should be made conducive for learning, education orientation and behavior-account ability policy implementation, recommendation make in this work are that government, educators, policy makers, school administrators and parents/guidance should ensure that appropriate measure are put in place and put in place and provide to schools for effective learning and physical education and moral education/instruction bodies and also parenting/guidance must be strengthened by their efforts to ensure that good training and learning process is provided to the child.
