ABSTRACT
This study examined perception of difficult topics in Senior Secondary School Biology curriculum. The study was carried out in Senior Secondary School in Benin Metropolis. Descriptive research design was employed for the study, three research questionnaire were postulated to guild the population of the study. The Population of the study consist all students in the public senior secondary school Biology (SS3) in Oredo Local Government Area, with over one thousand-five hundred (1,500) students, One hundred (100) students were randomly selected as the sample size. The instrument used in gathering the data for the study was a questionnaire titled ‘students’ perception of difficult topics in Senior Secondary School curriculum’. The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of curriculum and Instructional Technology, faculty of Education, University of Benin. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count, simple percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings revealed that nine (9) out of Twenty (20) topics in Biology (that were studied) were perceived as difficult by Senior Secondary School Students in Oredo Metropolis. Genetics was considered by student as the most difficult topic in Biology among senior secondary School students.
