ABSTRACT

The study explored the impact of start up businesses in Nigeria and challenges of sustainability: a case study of tailoring in Benin City. The study was divided into five chapters. The first chapter of the study was background to the study, where the introduction, aim and objectives, scope of the study methodology and literature were indentify. The second chapter examined the historical attendance of tailoring activities in Edo State. The chapter point out the outbreak of industrial revolution of tailoring activities in the ancient city of Benin in the location call Textile Mile Road. The third chapter examined the operational mode and how tailoring businesses can be setup. The third chapter also captured case study of some prominent tailoring businesses in Benin and how they stated and their impact in the tailoring businesses. The fourth chapter surveyed the problems and challenges facing tailoring businesses in Nigeria. The fourth chapter also examined with the aid of oral interviews how the increase of raw materials affects the cost of production.
