ABSTRACT
There is a relative increase from year to year in the rate of vehicular collision along the Ugbowo Lagos Road, Benin City, by Ine Junction. Some of these vehicular collisions are fatal accidents while some are mild cases. Several factors contribute to the occurrence of accidents at this section of the road, some of which are: human behavior, condition of vehicles, weather condition. This research was carried out to determine the safe speed limit of the road. The speed data was obtained by using a stopwatch to measure the transit time of vehicles through a section of known length along the road at the designated location. Spot speed study was adopted as the method for the research. This method has successfully established the maximum and the minimum speed limit for which vehicles should operate with in order to reduce the degree of vehicular collision.
