ABSTRACT

This project investigates the efficiency and effectiveness of the land title application processandCertificate of Occupancy (C of O) issuance in Edo State, Nigeria. It aims to identify bottlenecksand areas for improvement in the process, with a focus on reducing delays and enhancingtransparency.A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining both quantitativeandqualitative data collection,analysis and visualization methods.A total of 20,481 landtitleapplications were analyzed, and the results show that 50.5% of applicants faced issues, withdocument-related problems and incomplete payment being the most common.Despite this, 34.6%of applicants successfully obtained a C of O. The project concludes that streamlining the application process, enhancing transparency, andreducing bureaucratic delays are essential for improving the land title application process andCofO issuance in Edo State.The findings and recommendations of this study can informpolicymakersand stakeholders, promoting efficient land administration, economic growth, and improvedcitizenexperience. By implementing GIS services, there is an enhancement of transparency, accuracy, andefficiency in land administration processes while promoting investment and economic growth.It will generate more revenue for the State Government by means of Land Administrationandthrough this,create employment opportunities for the restless youths,thereby bring reductionincrime rate.
