ABSTRACT
The Internet of Things has a vision in which the internet extends into the real world embracing everyday objects. The IoT allows objects to be sensed and/or controlled remotely over existing network infrastructure, creating opportunities for pure integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, and resulting in improved efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit in addition to reduced human intervention. This technology has many applications like Solar farms, Smart villages, Micro grids and Solar Street lights and so on.
The system monitors solar power by measuring the output voltage and current of the solar panel, and then computes the output power and displays the result on a web-based interface. It also monitors temperature at a given time and associates it with the measured output power from the solar system. The monitoring continues on a real time basis and whenever there is a drop in the output power with relative to the measured temperature, this call for preventive maintenance of the system. This monitoring is done with ardiuno nano and an IoT platform, ThinkSpeak, through which the results are displayed. The Internet of Things brings everything together and allows us to interact with our solar panels. Using this we can: Create a channel and collect parameters from solar system, analyse and visualize parameters and act on them appropriately.
