ABSTRACT

This study examines the socioeconomic characteristics and level of income generation of informal transportation (motorcycle) operators in Igueben town. The study employed primary dates generated from a survey of 200 randomly selected motorcycle operators in Igueben town. SPSS Version 21 software aided data analysis was used for descriptive analysis. From the data coma the study reviews that’s majority of the operators (53.0%)are you married and majority of the Operators (83.0%) Have at least A Secondary school certificate.

The study shows that majority of The operators (71.0%) earns an average daily income of between 1000-3000 and That’s the income of the operators is influenced by the duration of Operation daily, days of operation in a weekly as well as the efficiency of the operator in carrying out his operations.

The study however recommended that The time has come for government at all levels to take a wholistic look at the business With a view to Strengthening the overall strategy of regulating the conduct of the operators of the business as well as develop and implement policies That favors commercial motorcycle operation due to its significance contribution to the economy.
