ABSTRACT
This study discuss the sociolinguistics study which explores the relationship between language and society, The aim of this study is to analyze sociolinguistics phenomenon called address term in Ogwashi-Ukwu. Data for analysis were collected through interview and observation. This provided for further cross checking of the address terms gotten from interview and observation. This study also investigates who uses titles, descriptive terms and teknonyms. The theoretical framework adopted for this analysis of the study is the ethnography of communication, which is understanding a language from the anthropological perspective. The findings shows that Ogwashi-Ukwu men prefer their titles rather than being called by their child's name, and address terms is used to show respect and power.
