ABSTRACT
This research work sets out to examine the attitude of the society towards language disordered individuals using Autism as a case study. Benin city is the major demographic area where this work is conducted, it is located in Edo State, Nigeria. For the realisation of the objectives of this study a descriptive research is employed and a simple random technique is used to get the respondents and data for the study. A total of 100 respondents were used as the sample size and our research instrument is a structured questionnaire. The responses gotten from the questionnaires is used to answer the research questions raised. The major findings of the study is that the attitude of the society and the government is actually negative which places the Autistic individuals in an endangered list. It is our recommendation that the society at large and the government should be made aware of the apparent danger of neglecting the less privileged which include the Autistic individual.
