ABSTRACT
The research was carried out to examine the various social work intervention strategies for the management of autistic children in University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). Social work as a profession seeks to help the marginalized, vulnerable and disadvantage individuals in the society. Social workers assist individuals with disabilities such as ASD. Children with autism spectrum disorder frequently exhibit anomalies in retrieving autobiographical memories to specific events of life. Such memory deficits are frequently attributed to underlying disruption in self-referential or social cognition processes. This research highlighted the social interaction of children with autism and their environment. It also examines the various social work interventions adopted for managing children with autism. The methodology of this study is adopted a survey design. However, a sample size of 100 was drawn from the population of healthcare professionals using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and were analyzed. The study shows that autism in children can be as a result of genetics, premature delivery, complications during birth etc. Recommendations were made at the end of the study
