ABSTRACT
This study examines social work intervention in the rehabilitation of trafficked victims in Benin City. This study adopted the survey design which was used to source data from a sample of 100 respondents. The data was analysis using percentage tables and chi-square technique. The result revealed that social work rehabilitation serves as an instrument of protection and assistance to trafficked victims in Benin City. The result shows that social work rehabilitation empowerment project stabilizes trafficked victims in Benin City. It also revealed that social work rehabilitation helps to protects and advocates for sexually trafficked victims in Benin City. The study recommends that human trafficking victims require holistic and long-term services if their social conditions are to be improved. Hence, from intervention perspective, social workers should play the role of providing direct support to those victimized through advocacy, psycho-educational, and clinical interventions (micro); educating the community and service providers about the needs of those victimized (mezzo); and advocating for infrastructure and funding for intervention and treatment programs (macro). Social workers should play vital role in the prevention of child trafficking, also in rescue and rehabilitation of such children, along with taking care of the victim in the protection home. Social workers should also help in rebuilding their lives and making them independent. The social workers should be more proactive and do more research on the topic of child trafficking. This will support them in playing a more prominent role in the prevention of child trafficking.
