ABSTRACT

The study focused on social media and job creation and the reduction of unemployment among students in University of Benin, to make this possible three objectives were raised to examine the extent student has explore the gold mine in social media to generate income, examine the extent student use social media to reduce their financial burden and determine extent have social media been used to create job opportunities for students

Descriptive survey research design which is a non-experimental method was adopted for the study. Convenience sampling technique was used to select one hundred (100) accessible respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire; it was a self-designed instrument, built around the research questions and was validated by the researcher's. Its reliability value was established as 0.69, indicating that the instrument was reliable. The data collected for the research question was analyzed using simple percentage and mean.

The study concludes that The researcher concludes that the extent to which student explores the gold mine in social media to generate income is to a low extent and that the extent student use social media to reduce their financial burden is to a low the study recommends that It is important to Ensuring all undergraduate graduates are ICT compliant and enhancement of computer literacy skills as only those who are computer literate can best harness the benefits of social media platforms and therefore enhance job opportunities.
