ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the study was to determine the skills required by business education graduates for sustainable entrepreneurship in Edo State, Nigeria. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study because, this is found suitable for studying educational research where respondents’ opinion were sought and evaluated for possible inference. The population of the study comprises 194 present 400levels students of Business Education University of Benin. Random sampling technique was used to select (140) respondents to represent the study population which comprises of 194 present 400levels students of Business Education University of Benin. A total of one hundred and forty (140) copies of the questionnaire administered to the respondents were all monitor during the field survey and returned deemed beneficial, obtained a response rate of 98.9%. The data acquired through the filled and returned copies of the questionnaire were analyzed by means of frequency counts and percentages. Findings revealed that management, accounting, marketing, and ICT skills are some of the skills required by business education graduates for sustainable entrepreneurship. In conclusively, for the graduates to sustain entrepreneurship venture in Nigeria, these skills are paramount. Finally, based on the findings and conclusion of the study the following recommendations were made, that in-services training should be provided to graduates of business education so as to enable them acquire the skills for sustainable entrepreneurship.
