SUMMARY

From this study, it could be seen that Silicone hydrogel did not have any significant effect on the corneal radius of curvature, tear flow rate and tear film stability. The conventional polymacon soft contact lens revealed that there was no statistically significant difference in the corneal radius of curvature, tear flow rate and the invasive-TBUT of the tear stability but the non-invasive TBUT of the tear stability was marginally significant. Tear film is one of the determining factors for a proper lens fit and should be considered important by the contact lens practitioners and users of contact lens as oxygen gets to the cornea through the tears that regularly bath the surface of the eye. The tear also helps the cornea in its metabolic processes and therefore should always be a thing of concern while fitting or recommending contact lens wear. With this established facts, silicone hydrogel soft contact lens should be the best choice for the contact lens wearers as it has most of the qualities to enable the first time wearer to quickly adapt and comfort of the users.
