ABSTRACT
The aim of this study work is to examine the sexual preference among couples in Egor Local Government Area. Descriptive statistical techniques such as frequency table, pie chart, bar graph, and chi square were used to analyze the data. The study deduced a balanced sexual preference with the predominant sex preferred being the male child, although, the difference in the bias is of little significance. It was also deduced that the location, either urban or rural, did not influence a satisfaction with the number of children. Moreover, the number of male children in a family unit is a deciding factor in the desire to continue bearing children.
Based on the findings, the study recommends that the bias of sexual preference, its causes and effects should be brought to public knowledge. Advocacies should be enforced with the support of government and other regulatory bodies, to address the biased attitudes of gender preference and foster a positive change in both traditional and religious environments. Gender equality policies should also be implemented to address the root causes of the gender bias.
