ABSTRACT
The coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is a highly transmittable and pathogenic viral infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which caused global pandemic that led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide. Multiple randomized sampling was carried out, with the systemic sampling approach. Ekosodin back gate, Anatomy back gate, June 12, Halls of resident bus stop and the university main gate were the locations selected for the study. All participants in the study were students (undergraduates and post graduates). STANDARDTM Q COVID 19 IgG/IgM combo test (SD Biosensor) was used for detection of SARS-COV 2 antibodies. 9 (25%) female students were IgM negative alongside 27 (75%) male students. 4 (50%) male and 4 (50%) female students were IgM positive. The total sample population for Life Science was 44 students. 22 (50%) students were within the age range of 18-21, while 49 (43.2%) were within the age range of 22-25years. 3 (6.8%) respondents greater than or equal to 26 years of age. 25 (57%) of the 44 students in the faculty of physical sciences reported that they did not feel comfortable wearing face masks, whereas the remaining 19 (43%) students reported being comfortable using a face mask. 7(88%) of the students who tested positive for SARS-COV-2 IgM did not feel comfortable using a face mask. The 1 (13%) of the students who tested positive to SARS-COV-2 was comfortable using a face mask. 44 students in faculty of physical sciences reported sharing facilities in their accommodation. The majority (88%) of the students who tested positive reported sharing facilities on their accommodation, whereas (12%) that tested negative to the IgM reported not sharing facilities.
