ABSTRACT
The intention of this work includes a working on the semantic analysis of Bajju personal names and their linguistic characteristics. A sample of 48 names both male and female were used for the analysis. A descriptive approach was used to analyse the data. The project explores the reasons/circumstances and meaning surrounding Bajju personal names. These were found to be related to events, and circumstances that prevailed around the birth of a child and his/her parents. The objective of this work indicates that Bajju cosmology is also seen to be reflected in Bajju onomastics. The findings indicates that Bajju personal names have semantic meaning and should be reserved as a mark of culture and tradition.
