ABSTRACT

The project, "Selection of Best Fit Remediation Method for a Hydrocarbon Polluted Site Using Multi-Criteria Decision Method," is dedicated to addressing the complex challenge of choosing the most appropriate method for remediating hydrocarbon-contaminated sites. Hydrocarbon pollution poses a significant environmental threat, demanding effective solutions that consider multiple critical factors. To achieve this, we have adopted a systematic approach based on the principles of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). This method allows us to comprehensively evaluate various remediation options while taking into account a range of essential criteria. These criteria include but are not limited to environmental impact, social impact, health considerations and the economy. This research contributes to a more holistic understanding of the remediation process, providing petroleum engineers, chemical engineers, and stakeholders with a comprehensive framework to make informed decisions. By integrating the insights gained from our analysis, we intend to assist decision-makers in selecting the most suitable remediation method tailored to the specific characteristics of each contaminated site. Through this project, we aspire to promote environmentally responsible practices and facilitate the restoration of polluted areas. In an era where environmental sustainability is paramount, our work strives to serve as a valuable resource for those committed to safeguarding our natural habitats, human health and preserving our planet for future generations.
