ABSTRACT
Second burial rites are events one can classify as a regular part of a burial ceremony especially reserved for the elderly and influential in the various communities of Oshimili north LGA of delta state Nigeria. This burial rite is seen as a spiritual event at which animal sacrifices, poetry, music and dance are the major programs lined up. In this work, fact finding approach was used including books internet and materials, as well as seeking information from the elderly that are necessary to this research. However, the research recommends the implications of second burial in a social sense brings about the celebration of the dead for a life well spent which mostly relies on the financial strength of the family to the deceased. Religiously, second burial is a culture amongst the people of Oshimilli north. It’s a way of life and does not in any way impacts negatively on the religious belief of indigenes of the area
