ABSTRACT

The research work is on School Record Management and Principals’ Administrative Effectiveness. To carryout the study four research questions were raised, which are, what is the level of school records management in public senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area Edo State, Nigeria. What is the level of principals’ administrative effectiveness in public senior secondary schools. Is there a relationship between school records management and principals’ administrative effectiveness in the public senior secondary schools. Is there any difference in the relationship of school record management and principals’ administrative effectiveness based on gender. Ex-post facto research and survey design was employed for this study, and the population of study were 50 teachers selected from public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area. Instrument for the data collection is a structured questionnaire with 4- point likert rating scale of Strongly Agree (SA = 4), Agree (A = 3), Disagree (D = 2), and Strongly Disagree (SD = 1) From the findings, it was discovered that there are not standardized procedures for records keeping, no responsible for maintaining school records, and staffs do not use software or digital platforms for record management. Most principal decisions are not fair, transparent in the best interest of the school. And there is no difference between school records management and principals’ administrative effectiveness based on gender in the public senior secondary schools. The following recommendations were suggested that school principals’ should have a standardized procedures for records keeping. schools and government should employed trained record personnel that will responsible for maintaining school records. School principles should always communicate goals and decisions. They should be fair, transparent, Training and seminar should be given to teachers and. There should not assignment of Jobs based on gender in the public senior secondary school.
