ABSTRACT
This study was designed to analyze the influence of school climate on the academic performance of public primary students in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Three research question were raised to guide the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised 100 primary six student in 5 public primary school under Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Questionnaire was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. It was validated by the researchers’ supervisor and two experts. Its reliability was established at 0.7 using Cronbach Alpha method. The data collected for the study was analyzed using simple percentages. The findings from the study revealed that the level of school climate has a significant relationship with students’ academic performance and that for effective learning and teaching, educational infrastructures must be made available and accessible for students use. Since educational infrastructure was the most key factor within the school climate that influences pupils academic performance amongst others. Therefore, the study recommends that the Government should as a matter of necessity increase the budget allotted to the educational sector so as to procure educational facilities that would enhance effective teaching and learning.
