ABSTRACT
Poverty significantly impacts child welfare in various ways, exerting profound and often long-lasting effect on children’s physical, emotional and cognitive development. This study investigate the intricate relationship between rural poverty and child welfare in Ovia North East. Through a comprehensive examination of economic, social and developmental factors. This study uncovers the multifacted challenges faced by children living in poverty within Ovia North East. Findings reveal the pervasive nature of poverty, which have significant implication for children’s access to education, healthcare, nutrition and overall well-being. Additionally, the research underscores the interconnectedness of poverty with limited social service and infrastructure, exacerbating the vulnerability of children and their families. It concluded with recommendations for targeted intervention, community empowerment and collaboration efforts aimed at alleviating poverty and improving child welfare outcomes in Ovia North East Local Government Area.
