ABSTRACT

The thesis analyses the roles of stakeholders in road construction project delivery in Benin City, Edo State with a view to evaluating each stakeholder’s impact. The objectives are to: identify the benefit of stakeholder’s impact on road construction project delivery, evaluate factors hindering stakeholder’s engagement in road construction project delivery, and to assess the impact of stakeholder’s role in road construction project delivery in Edo State. Using descriptive method, data was collected through a well-structured questionnaire. Two-hundred and forty (240) questionnaires were distributed and ninety (90) questionnaires were retrieved from various respondents. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using mean item score (MIS) and relative importance index (RII). The study established the benefit of stakeholder’s impact on road construction project delivery with improved project delivery as the most significant benefit, lack of stakeholder’s involvement in the formulation of policy as the most significant factor hindering stakeholder’s engagement and the study revealed that high participation with best input to be the most significant stakeholder’s impact on road construction project delivery. The study concludes that stakeholder’s role is very crucial to the delivery of road construction project and every stakeholder’s impact is relevant for effective project delivery.
