ABSTRACT
Regional organisations’s (OAU, Red Cross, UN and the OPEC) tried to resolve and mediate the conflict between the Nigeria Government and secessionist Biafran authorities and provided humanitarian aids to those affected by the during Nigeria Civil War. They brought international attention to the war and advocated for peaceful resolution. The significant Nigeria Civil War in 1967 to 1970 led to loss of lives and properties. Njoku, Raphael in ‘Regional Responses to the Nigerian Civil War." Journal of African History testified to the roles of the regional organizations. Many scholars in articles and journals put into writing the regional dynamic impacts of the conflict in 1967-1970. For instance, Murithi, in his book, ‘The African Union’s Role in Peacekeeping’ discussed the roles of Organization of African Union. Chinua Achebe also gives account of Nigeria Civil War in his book titled ‘There Was A Country’ where he explains in detail the cause of the conflict and the roles of the regional organizations during the Nigeria Civil War.
