ABSTRACT
The construction industry in Edo State, Nigeria, has witnessed substantial growth and transformation, with public-private partnership (PPP) projects playing a pivotal role in the development landscape. Quantity surveyors, as adept professionals specializing in financial and contractual management within the construction sector, are instrumental in the successful execution of PPP initiatives. This study delves into the multifaceted roles and contributions of quantity surveyors in the effective implementation of PPP projects in Edo State. Quantity surveyors bring invaluable expertise to the table, encompassing vital aspects such as cost estimation, budgeting, procurement, tendering, cost control, value engineering, and final account settlement. Their competencies play a pivotal role in ensuring that PPP projects adhere to budgetary constraints, maintain fiscal transparency, and meet stakeholder expectations. By shedding light on the roles and significant contributions of quantity surveyors, this study not only advances our understanding of the dynamics of PPP projects but also provides valuable insights into optimizing the partnership between the public and private sectors for enhanced infrastructure development. This research contributes to the broader discourse on construction project management, ultimately enhancing the prospects for successful PPP project execution in Edo State and beyond.
