SUMMARY

This study covers the role mass media has played in the fight against terrorism from 2010-2020. Specifically, the study dealt with the media’s roles, reports, dates and places of terrorist attacks in Nigeria. Both the print and electronic media’s effectiveness towards reportage of the terrorist attacks carried out by Boko Haram was effectively studied using The Punch, Leadership, Daily Trust, Nations and Nigeria Television Authority as a case study. The terrorist group known as Boko Haram became a recognized terrorist group after her series of attacks in the North Eastern part of Nigeria and her activities have been taken into consideration in the national and international level.

The mass media being a medium of passing and carrying out information to a large percentage of audience in the world uses this role she has to carry out such task before her. Hence the role of the media in terrorism is seen to be one of the best acts to be done to humanity.
