ABSTRACT

This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on non-governmental health institutions (NGOs) in Benin City. The study employed a survey method using the questionnaire as it tool for data gathering. The study highlighted the pivotal role of NGOs in response to the pandemic. Through the lens of Diffusion of Innovation and Social Systems theories, the research elucidates the challenges faced by NGOs, including financial constraints, resource shortages, and increased service demands. Despite these obstacles, NGOs were perceived positively by the community for their effective response to the crisis. Recommendations include bolstering financial support, improving access to medical supplies, enhancing staff capacity, expanding service capabilities, refining communication strategies, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to strengthen NGO resilience and ensure effective healthcare delivery during health emergencies in Benin City.
