ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at assessing the role of Parents Teachers Association (PTAs) in school development in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from one hundred and sixteen (116) respondents randomly selected from four secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using simple percentage and frequency count.
The findings from the study include that there is a good level of establishment of PTA in public secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there is active involvement of Parents Teachers Association (PT As) in school development in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
Some of the recommendations made include that government should try as much as possible to limit their undue interference in the activities of Parents Teachers Association (PTAs). It was also recommended that Parents should put in more concerted effort to ensure their adequate representation in Parents Teachers Association (PTAs) meetings.
