ABSTRACT

This study explores the National Directorate of Employment and Unemployment in Edo State, examining its role in addressing Edo employment crisis, its establishment, and the challenges it faces in boosting employment and reducing unemployment. The National Directorate of Employment and Unemployment in Nigeria was the subject of the study. Edo state was the study's main emphasis. The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) was established; its function in employment and unemployment in Edo State was determined; and the NDE's obstacles in attempting to reduce unemployment and increase employment in Edo State were studied. The study revealed that Nigeria's development is hindered by various issues, including unemployment. The lack of focus on entrepreneurial methods led to a rise in unemployment, which poses a significant threat to the country's economic growth and future generations, particularly the youth. Many Nigerian university graduates and school dropouts turn to illegal activities to make ends meet, contributing to long-term unemployment and youth-perpetrated crimes.
